Curriculum Vitae

Zlatan Vrkljan, Croatian painter was born  on February 17, 1955, in Zagreb. He graduated in 1979 from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb (S. Perić).
From 1979 to 1981 he was an associate of the Master Workshop of Professors Ljubo Ivančić and Nikola Reiser; From 1978 to 1994 he worked as an assistant professor and is now an associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts; He is one of the co-founders of the Zagreb art “Arteria Gallery”. Vrkljan iz a painter of rapid stylistic changes.

Zlatan Vrkljan attracted the attention of art critics already with his first public appearance, an exhibition at the Vladimir Nazor Gallery in 1978.

Over the years, he has been recognized as one of the most authentic phenomena in Croatian painting from the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. In the middle of the eighties, he created an impressive cycle of paintings with mythological and allegorical themes.

He has been a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 2014 in the Department of Fine Arts.
