Curriculum Vitae

Ignac Lovrek is a professor emeritus of the University of Zagreb, where he works at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, in the Department of Telecommunications. He was born in Zagreb in 1947, where he completed studies in electrical engineering and received his doctoral degree in 1980.

He was the first Croatian scientist to be elected to the scientific title of scientific advisor in the fields of electrical engineering and computer science. He has been a full member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in the Department of Technical Sciences since 2016, and has been an associate member since 2008. Since 2019, he has been secretary of the Department of Technical Sciences and a member of the Presidency of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.

As a researcher in the field of network science, he is a member of the research laboratories socialLAB – Laboratory for Social Networking and Social Computing and ICT-AAC Lab – Laboratory for Assistive Technologies and Assisted Communication at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. His scientific interest is information and communication, in the research of which he combines approaches from electrical engineering and computer science and achieves internationally recognized results and influence on science, higher education and the economy in Croatia.
