Curriculum Vitae

Prof. dr. sc. Nenad Bičanić was born on September 6, 1945 in Zagreb and died on October 8, 2016 in Veli Lošinj. He was one of the world’s leading scientists in the field of civil engineering and computational mechanics. On 20 May 2010, he was elected a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts as a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Director of the Joint Research Institute for Materials and StructureMechanics and Bioengineering, University of Glasgow.
He collaborated with the faculties of civil engineering of the Universities of Zagreb, Split, Rijeka and Osijek, actively participated in the work of the Croatian Society of Mechanics, as the organizer of the first summer school for computer mechanics held alongside the 1st International School of Mechanics. Congress of the Croatian Society of Mechanics (Pula, 1994) and co-chairing the 6th Congress of the Croatian Society of Mechanics (Pula, 1994) Congress (Dubrovnik, 2009) On May 29, 2003, he held a lecture at the Academy and published the following article in the Academy’s journal: N.
