Martina Basarac Sertić was born in 1985 in Karlovac. Basarac Sertić is a senior research associate at the Department of Economic Research of the Department of Social Sciences of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb.
She graduated in 2007, and in 2009 she completed a specialist postgraduate study Statistical Methods for Economic Analysis and Forecasting. She received her PhD in 2012 from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb. She has published about fifty scientific and professional papers, two of which are the author’s books. Her main research interests are related to the fields of macroeconomics, sectoral competitiveness, economic modelling and sustainable development. As an external associate, she participated in teaching courses in Croatian Economics, Economic Policy and Economics of Education at the Department of Macroeconomics and Economic Development and Statistics at the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb.
Since 2018, she has been teaching the course Sustainable Development and Natural Resources at the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, and is a mentor of numerous graduate and seminar theses. Since 2020, she has been the secretary and a member of the scientific council of the Institute for Eurasian Research at the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb. Since 2021, she has been the program director of the CRO – CHI Think Tank Executive Board of the Department of Eurasian Research, Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb. She is a member of the Institute for Energy and Environmental Economics (INEEO) and the Croatian Statistical Society. She is a member of numerous organizational, program and editorial boards of national and international scientific conferences and conferences. Since May 2021, she has been a member of the research project entitled “Analysis of structural factors of convergence of the Republic of Croatia during the transition process” (project manager: Josip Tica, PhD, project code: IP-2019-04-4500).
In 2023 Martina Basarac Sertić, PhD was elected as the representative of associate members in the Department of Social Sciences and participates in the work of the CASA Assembly without the right to vote.
