Pavao Pavličić, Croatian writer, literary scholar and translator (Vukovar, 16.VIII. 1946). He completed his studies in comparative literature and Italian language in 1969 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, where he received his Doctorate in Metrics in 1974. Since 1970, he has been employed at the Department of Comparative Literature, where he has been a full professor since 1985, and since 2017 he has been professor emeritus. Since 1997 he has been a fellow of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He appeared in literature in 1972 with a collection of fantastic stories Boat of Water. In his scientific work he deals with the issues of older Croatian literature, especially mannerisms and Baroque, questions of literary genology and verse theory. He is a member of Matica Hrvatska, the Croatian Writers’ Association and the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
He received the Vladimir Nazor Lifetime Achievement Award (2015).
