Maurice Tucker, a British geologist, was born on November 6, 1946 in London. He graduated in geology from the University of Durham. From 1993 to 2011 he held the position of Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Durham, and from 1998 to 2011 was Master of University College, Durham. also his Master. He is one of the world’s leading experts in the field of sedimentary rock petrology. His works from carbonate sedimentology are important.
He collaborated with Croatian geologists and petrologists in the development of a lithostratigraphic geological map, and was a member of the international editorial board of the geological journal Geologia Croatica.
He was elected as a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 2008.
