\u010cedomil Lucu<\/strong> was born on March 28, 1938, in Koprivnica, where he graduated from elementary and secondary school. He graduated in biology from the Faculty of Science in Sarajevo in 1961. He received his master’s degree in Oceanography from the University of Zagreb, and a Doctorate in Biological Sciences from the University of Ljubljana in 1965.<\/p>\n As a winner of the Humboldt Scholarship, from 1971 to 1973 he stayed on specialization in Hamburg, and from 1980 to 1983 he worked as head of the Department of Biology at the University of Rijeka School of Medicine. He was a long-time head of the Laboratory for Ecophysiology and Toxicology of the Centre for Marine Research in Rovinj. He retired from the Rudjer Boskovic Institute in 2003 as a scientific advisor in a permanent position. For several years, he has led a fruitful scientific research collaboration with respected scientific institutions in Germany, the Netherlands and the United States.\u00a0\u00a0He has published about 100 scientific papers in the field of physiology of marine organisms, mostly in international scientific journals. His papers have been cited more than a thousand times (SCI, Scopus).\u00a0He has been an associate member of CASA since 1992. He received the annual National Science Award in 1999 in the field of natural sciences, as well as the recognition for his contribution to the work of the University of Rijeka (2005 and 2008).<\/p>\n \u010cedomil Lucu made a significant contribution to the discipline of ecophysiology and toxicology of marine organisms in the field of natural sciences.<\/p>\n
