Curriculum Vitae<\/strong><\/p>\n Marko Trogrli\u0107<\/strong> was born on 19 May 1972 in Zadvarje, Croatia. He completed his primary and secondary education in Split. He is a Full Professor with tenure in Modern and Contemporary History at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split.<\/p>\n He graduated in History from the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Vienna. In 2001, at the Institute for East European History, University of Vienna, he passed the doctoral examination (Rigorosum<\/em>) and defended his doctoral dissertation entitled Ivan Skakoc (1752\u20131837). Leben und Werk<\/em>.<\/p>\n In 2002, he was appointed Assistant Professor in the field of Humanities, discipline of History, specialization in Croatian History, at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zadar. Since 1 October 2006, he has been employed at the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008, to Full Professor in 2014, and in 2019 to the permanent academic rank of Full Professor of Croatian and World Modern and Contemporary History.<\/p>\n He completed his studies in Christian Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb (1997) and his studies in Theology at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome (2002). On 5 January 2019, he was ordained a Catholic priest and has since been engaged in pastoral ministry in Split.<\/p>\n During the academic years 2008\/2009 and 2013\/2014\u20132014\/2015, he served as Head of the Department of History at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split. From 1 October 2009 to 30 September 2013, he served two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split and was a member of the Senate of the University of Split. He also served as President of the Conference of Deans of Faculties of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Republic of Croatia. From 2019 to 2023, he was a member of the University of Split Committee for the Selection of Emeritus Professors. Since July 2021, he has served as Head of the Centre for Croatian, Venetian and Ottoman Studies at the University of Split. Since 1 October 2025, he has been a member of the Senate of the University of Split as a representative of Full Professors in the field of Humanities.<\/p>\n At the European University of Rome (Universit\u00e0 Europea di Roma<\/em>), he was a member of the board of the doctoral programme Mutamento, culture, identit\u00e0 e percezioni in area euromediterranea tra Tardo Antico e Et\u00e0 Contemporanea<\/em> (2013\/2014\u20132015\/2016). During the winter semester of the 2015\/2016 academic year, he also taught as a Visiting Professor in the course Storia Contemporanea<\/em> at the same University.<\/p>\n At the Department of History, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split, he continuously teaches courses in Croatian Modern and Contemporary History at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. He has also taught in the doctoral programmes in History at the University of Zadar, at the Catholic Faculty of Theology of the University of Split, and at the European University of Rome (Universit\u00e0 Europea di Roma<\/em>).<\/p>\n He was Principal Investigator of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports project Dalmatia and the Viennese Central Institutions in the Nineteenth Century<\/em>. In 2015\/2016, together with Dr Konrad Clewing (Leibnitz-Institut f\u00fcr Ost- und S\u00fcdosteuropaforschung Regensburg<\/em>), he co-led the project Zentralstaat und Provinzverwaltung im habsburgischen Dalmatien des Vorm\u00e4rz<\/em>, funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Science.<\/p>\n He participated as a researcher in Croatian Science Foundation projects, including:<\/p>\n He is currently a researcher on the following projects:<\/p>\n He was a recipient of a scholarship from the German Catholic Academic Exchange Service (KAAD, Bonn) from 1 October 2016 to 1 July 2017 for research on the project Kirche und Staat im habsburgischen Dalmatien (1815\u20131855)<\/em>. He has participated in numerous international scholarly conferences in Croatia and abroad and has served on the organizing committees of the Congress of Croatian Historians and several scholarly conferences held in Croatia.<\/p>\n From December 2021 to December 2025, he served as President of the Literary Circle of Split (Knji\u017eevni krug Split<\/em>), and since 2026 he has served as its Vice-President. He is a member of Matica hrvatska<\/em>. He is also a member of the Committee for Historiography Awards of the Croatian National Committee of Historical Sciences and of the Croatian Historical Association (Dru\u0161tvo za hrvatsku povjesnicu<\/em>), the umbrella organization of Croatian historians.<\/p>\n He is a member of several Croatian and international professional associations, including Dru\u0161tvo za hrvatsku povjesnicu<\/em>, the Croatian National Committee of Historical Sciences (HNOPZ), Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Erforschung des 18. <\/em>Jahrhunderts<\/em> (Graz), R\u00f6misches Institut der G\u00f6rres-Gesellschaft<\/em> (Rome), and Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Konziliengeschichtsforschung<\/em> (Augsburg). He was also a member of the Kommission f\u00fcr s\u00fcdosteurop\u00e4ische Geschichte<\/em> (Pro Oriente<\/em> Foundation, Vienna, Austria).<\/p>\n He is a member of the editorial board of the Literary Circle of Split\u2019s series Biblioteka Knjiga Mediterana<\/em>. He has served as Editor-in-Chief of the Proceedings of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (Split)<\/em>, as a member of the editorial board of Historijski zbornik<\/em>, and of Vjesnik dalmatinskih arhiva<\/em>. He is a contributor to the Hrvatski biografski leksikon<\/em> and the \u00d6sterreichisches Biographisches Lexikon<\/em> (Vienna).<\/p>\n For his scholarly work, he has received the following awards and recognitions:<\/p>\n On 22 April 2022, he was elected a Corresponding Member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Philosophical-Historical Class (philosophisch-historische Klasse<\/em>).<\/p>\n On 21 May 2026, he was elected a Full Member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU).<\/p>\n\n
