He graduated in 1951 from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb and received his doctorate in 1954 in experimental nuclear physics from the University of Birmingham.<\/p>\n<p>From 1951 to 1998 he worked at the Faculty of Science in Zagreb and was a full professor from 1973 to 1980. He was a head of the Physical Department from 1968\u20131970,\u00a0 head of the Physical Institute from 1984\u20131992, and the founder of the Atomic and Nuclear Physics Laboratory. Since 1998, he was professor emeritus. He also worked at the <em>Ru\u0111er Bo\u0161kovi\u0107 Institute<\/em> from 1956, where he was head of the Nuclear Physics Group from 1957 to 1964, head of the Department of Nuclear and Atomic Research from 1964 to 1967, and founder of the Laboratory for Electromagnetic Interactions. He was a visiting professor at the University of Washington in Seattle from 1962 to 1964.<\/p>\n<p class=\"tw-data-text tw-text-large tw-ta\" dir=\"ltr\" data-placeholder=\"Prijevod\"><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">He specialized in nuclear and atomic physics. <\/span><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">He initiated scientific research into the nuclear reaction of three bodies in the final state and two-quantum decays, and, among other things, discovered the resonant effect in double X-ray decays.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He was editor-in-chief of the journal Physics since 1991 in 1962 received the Award for Scientific Work &#8220;Ru\u0111er Bo\u0161kovi\u0107&#8221;.
