Gy\u00f6rgy B\u00e1rdossy, PhD, was born on 17 November 1925 in Szombathely, Hungary, and died on 15 April 2013 in Budapest. He was a geologist, the world&#8217;s leading scientist and expert of karst and laterite bauxite raw materials for the alumina, aluminum and its compounds industry. He was elected a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts on 30 January 1997 as professor emeritus of the Lor\u00e4nd E\u00f6tv\u00f6s University in Budapest and a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n<p>He has collaborated with the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1963.
