Bari\u0161i\u0107 graduated from the School of Applied Arts Split in 1973. In 1978, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb, in a sculpting class mentored by professor Ivan Saboli\u0107. From 1978 to 1981, he was a collaborator of professor Frano Kr\u0161ini\u0107\u2019s Master Workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Bari\u0161i\u0107 exhibited at over seventy solo exhibitions and more than 150 group exhibitions in Croatia and abroad (Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik, P<em>\u00e9<\/em>cs, Fulda, Mannheim, Stuttgart, Aachen, Moscow, Paris, Osaka, Prague, New York, Melbourne, Vienna, \u0160ibenik, Budapest&#8230;).<\/p>\n<p>In 1993, he participated in the project \u201cRecall Byblos\u201c, at Ludwig Forum f\u00fcr Internationale Kunst in Aachen. In 1995, he exhibited at Osaka Triennial 1995 &#8211; 6<sup>th<\/sup> International Contemporary Art Competition, while in 2003 he represented Croatia (along with three other authors) at the 9<sup>th<\/sup> \u00a0International Biennial in Cairo. Since 1994 he has been a member of the Hungarian-Croatian art group called \u201cChopor(t) horda\u201c. His artworks are kept in numerous museums, galleries, and private collections in Croatia and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Bari\u0161i\u0107 received a number of awards and acknowledgments, including the Grand Prix at the 5<sup>th<\/sup> \u00a0Triennial of Croatian Sculpting in 1994 and the annual award \u201cVladimir Nazor\u201c for visual arts (for his Monument to the Fallen Croatian Defenders in \u0110akovo, 2001).<\/p>\n<p>2012 &#8211; City of Zagreb\u2019s Award for the best exhibition in 2011, for the solo exhibition <em>Gluho zvono\/Deaf Bell<\/em> (at St. Donat\u2019s Church in Zadar and The Home of Croatian Association of Visual Artists, Ba\u010dva Gallery, Zagreb).<\/p>\n<p>2011 \u2013 Award by The Croatian Association of Visual Artists for the best exhibition in 2011 (<em>Gluho zvono\/Deaf Bell<\/em>), Zagreb<\/p>\n<p>2009 \u2013 Awards by Forum Gallery for the best exhibition in 2008 (<em>Bijelo\/White<\/em>), Zagreb<\/p>\n<p>In 1996 Bari\u0161i\u0107 received the Order of the Croatian Morning Star medal, with a figure of Marko Maruli\u0107, as recognition for distinguished merits.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2002, Petar Bari\u0161i\u0107 has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts as a docent, becoming a full professor in 2012. In 2018, he became a tenured professor of arts at the same educational institution.<\/p>\n<p>During 2011 and 2012 he served as a mentor for the postgraduate doctoral study of sculpting at the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb.<\/p>\n<p>Ever since 1978 Bari\u0161i\u0107 has been a member of the Croatian Association of Visual Arts, becoming a member of its Board of Directors in 2001. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Croatian Freelance Artists Association. During the 2003-2007 mandate, he served as a vice-chairman of the Croatian Association of Visual Artists. Bari\u0161i\u0107 was also a member of the Council for Visual Arts of the City of Zagreb\u2019s Department for education, culture, and sport during a 2005-2006 mandate. From 2008 to 2021 he was a member of the Management Council of Klovi\u0107evi dvori Gallery. In 1991 he served as a member of the organizational committee of the 4<sup>th<\/sup> Triennial of Croatian Sculpting, while in 1997 he was a member of the Art Committee of the exhibition <em>U susret vukovarskom salonu \/ Towards Vukovar Salon.<\/em> In 2002, he was a member of the Organizational Committee of the 37<sup>th<\/sup> Zagreb Salon of Applied Arts. In 2003 and 2006 he served as a member of the respectively 38<sup>th<\/sup> and 41<sup>st<\/sup> \u00a0Zagreb Salon of Architecture. Bari\u0161i\u0107 created a sculpture which was given along with the annual award by INA and Croatian Culture Club for merits in promoting the Croatian culture in the world (1995-2007). In 2011 he served as a member of the international jury for the selection of artists whose sculptures would become part of the permanent collection of the sculpture park Forma Viva (Slovenia).<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, a committee deciding on the award \u201cVladimir Nazor\u201c named Bari\u0161i\u0107 a member of the jury for the domain of visual and applied arts, with a two-year mandate.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012 Bari\u0161i\u0107 was a member of the appraisal committee for the creation of a monument to Dr. Franjo Tu\u0111man in Osijek, as well as a member of the appraisal committee of the 11<sup>th<\/sup> Triennial of Croatian Sculpting (Glyptotheque of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb).<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, Zagreb City Assembly named Bari\u0161i\u0107 a member of the Management Council of the Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb. In 2014, he was a member of the Commission deciding on the award given by the International Olympic Committee \u201cOlympic Sports and Art\u201d for 2013. In 2015, he was the president of the appraisal committee for tender concerning a monument to Dr. Franjo Tu\u0111man in the City of Knin. In 2016, the Committee of \u201cVladimir Nazor\u201d award named Bari\u0161i\u0107 a member of the Commission for visual and applied arts, with a two-year mandate.<\/p>\n<p>Croatian television made and broadcasted several documentary films on Bari\u0161i\u0107 that were directed by Eduard Gali\u0107. In 2001, the scientific-educational department of Croatian television made a film about Bari\u0161i\u0107, directed by Vlatka Vorkapi\u0107 and based on a script by Matko Sr\u0161en.<\/p>\n<p>A 2016 documentary based on the script by Milan Be\u0161li\u0107 portrayed a monument <em>Slomljeni pejza\u017e \/ Broken Landscape <\/em>that was created by Petar Bari\u0161i\u0107 and his co-authors (architects Kata Marunica and Igor Ravli\u0107).
