She graduated in 1959 from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, where she defended her Doctorate of Science in 1962.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating, she took a job at the <em>Rudjer Boskovic<\/em> Institute, and after her doctorate she worked in numerous institutions around the world:\u00a0Institute of Animal Physiology, Cambridge, UK;\u00a0Department of Physiology, School of Medicine, McGill University, Montreal, Canada (Assistant Professor);\u00a0Laboratory for Neuropharmacology at the <em>Rudjer Boskovic<\/em> Institute \u00a0as head; Department of Pharmacology, Medical School, University of Edinburgh, Scotland (Visiting Professor); Department of Physiology, Medical College, University of Utah, USA; Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology,Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, USA (Associate Professor);\u00a0Department of Veterinary Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology, Iowa State University of Iowa, USA (Associate Professor);\u00a0Abteilung Physiologie des Zentralnerven System, Universitat Heidelberg, Germany (Visiting Professor);\u00a0Fogarty Center, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, USA, \u00a0(Senior international fellow);\u00a0University of London, UK (Senior international Fellow);\u00a0National Institute of Physiological Science, Okazaki, Japan (Senior international Fellow);\u00a0Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology, Iowa State University, USA (Professor of Pharmacology);\u00a0Department of Biomedical Sciences, Iowa State University, USA (professor emeritus).<\/p>\n<p>Mirjana Jovi\u0107 Randi\u0107 has given more than 50 lectures at international scientific conferences. She has received 13 awards and recognitions in the USA and 23 scientific projects in the USA and Europe. She was the leader of 21 postgraduate and 22 postdoctoral students, who all occupied distinguished academic positions around the world. She published 20 (co-authoring) chapters in scientific books and 110 articles in world journals.
