Membership in the Academy:<\/p>\n
Istv\u00e1n L\u00f6k\u00f6s<\/strong>,\u00a0Istv\u00e1n L\u00f6k\u00f6s, Hungarian scholar, professor of literature and translator, was born on November 10,<\/span>\u00a01933, in Eger. Since completing his studies in the late 1950s, he has been involved in Croatian literature, as a researcher of its history and translator of croatian writers’ works in Hungarian.<\/p>\n As a researcher of Croatian literature, Prof. L\u00f6k\u00f6s dealt with a particularly attractive period of renaissance and baroque, the Siget tradition and the anti-Turkish epic tradition in Croatian literature of the 16th and 17th centuries, followed by the Croatian novel and creativity of Miroslav Krle\u017ea, as well as croatian-Hungarian literary and cultural connections. A large number of papers have been published on all these thematic units, in Hungarian, German and Croatian.<\/p>\n He confirmed the integrity of his knowledge of Croatian literature with his work Povijest hrvatske knji\u017eevnosti<\/em>\u00a0in Hungarian (A horv\u00e1t irodalom t\u00f6rt\u00e9nete<\/em>, 1996), and chieved the scope of his translation by translating Maruli\u0107’s Judith into Hungarian <\/span>(Marko Maruli\u0107: Judith<\/em>, 1999) with an extensive study and\u00a0<\/span>comprehensive review<\/span> at the end of the book.<\/p>\n He is the most prominent\u00a0<\/span>researcher of the\u00a0<\/span>Croatian language, literature and culture, who enters the circle of the most active and distinguished Croatists in the world. He died on August 31, 2025.<\/p>\n
