Miroslav Radman<\/strong>, a Croatian molecular biologist, was born on April 30, 1944, in Split. He graduated in experimental biology and physical chemistry from the Faculty of Science in Zagreb in 1966 and received his PhD degree in molecular biology from the Free University in Brussels in 1969. He continued his postdoctoral studies at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France and at Harvard University, USA. In 1972 he became an associate prosfessor of molecular genetics at the Free University of Brussels, Department of Molecular Biology, where he still works today. From 1983 to 1998, he was director of research at the Jaques Monod Institute in Paris. \u00a0Since 1988, he has been a professor of cellular biology at the Necker School of Medicine, University of Paris 5, and since 1999 he has been director of the research unit at the Institute national de la sant\u00e9 et de la recherche m\u00e9dicale (INSERM) in Paris.<\/p>\n He co-founded the Mediterranean Institute for Life Research in Split in 2003.<\/p>\n He has won numerous awards and recognitions: Antoine Lacassagne Grand Prix <\/em>1979, Golden Eureka of Innovation<\/em> in 1990, Charles Leopold Meyer Grand Prix<\/em> 1992, Medal of Honor<\/em> 1992, Spridion Brusina Medal <\/em>in 1998, Leopold Griffuel Grand Prix<\/em> in 1998, Richard Lounsbery Grand Prix<\/em> 2000, American Society for Environmental Factors Mutagena<\/em> Science Award \u00a02000.\u00a0Miroslav Radman’s scientific merits have been recognized and awarded by numerous institutions. He is a member of <\/span>the European Organization for Molecular Biology (EMBO) (1978), the Academia europaea (1998), the French Academy of Sciences and Arts (2002), the New York Academy of Sciences (1993), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (1992), the French Genetic Society, the American Society for Mutagenic Environmental Factors (1993), the Scientific Conciliation of the Marie Curie Institute (1985-1989). In 2000 he was made an honorary lecturer at the Weizmann Institute in Israel, and since 2020 he has been an honorary visiting professor of molecular genetics at the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb.<\/p>\n He has been a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts since 1992.<\/p>\n
